I've spent ten years designing software most people never think about but use every day.

My name is Felix, but most people call me Kemal. I'm based in Belgium.

Outside of work, I spend a lot of time thinking about food. Not just eating it, the whole chain: where ingredients come from, how they're grown, what happens between the farm and the plate, why the same recipe tastes different depending on who made it and with what. I grow some of my own ingredients. I read about fermentation the way some people read about typography. What keeps me interested in it is the same thing that keeps me interested in most things: the surface is rarely where anything important is happening.

That's probably why I ended up in the kind of software work I did. Ten years designing enterprise platforms, authentication systems, developer tools, data-heavy interfaces used by engineering teams at companies like Alibaba, Netflix, and Uber. The problems aren't glamorous but they're serious, and they reward the kind of attention that most people don't bother to bring. Change one component and something breaks three screens over. Miss a constraint early and someone's still paying for it six months into build. That's the kind of thing I notice, and I don't stop noticing it.

Over the last two years I've been studying how design teams are actually handling AI, not in theory but in practice. I interviewed six practitioners across four countries. Most of them had no real governance in place and were making it up as they went. That research became my MBA thesis. It also pulled me toward a harder question: what should design actually be in service of. The sustainability focus came out of that, not out of a career calculation.

So what I'm looking for now is work in climate tech, green AI, or sustainable technology where all of it is useful: the systems experience, the research instinct, the sustainability grounding. I think how things are made matters as much as what gets made. I want to work with people who believe that too, who actually want to understand the problem and care whether the answer holds up.
